Afghanistan women artists hold rare Kabul art exhibition
In Kabul seven years after Taliban bans on women, twenty three young women artists displayed ninety three works in an eight day show that drew about three thousand visitors. The exhibit, held in a Kabul high school gym, travels next to Herat and showcases themes of oppression and hope amid shifting social norms. The artists described restrictions under the Taliban and the empowering impact of public reception and dialogue on gender roles.
