Students at Jefferson Union High School pledged help and money to catch vandals who damaged the school bus. Principal K W Christopher said the high school clubs posted a $100 reward for the apprehension and conviction of those responsible.
Miss Katherine LaVerne Westgate wed Waldo W. Anderson in a 5 p.m. ceremony at Danforth Chapel. The couple plans to reside in Kansas City Kansas after Sept. 1. The bride, KU graduate, wore a lace bodice gown with organza skirt and gardenia bouquet. best man was Clarence Gerberick. Out-of-town guests included Andersons from California Nebraska Colorado and Kansas.
Mrs. John Hadley hosted a bridal shower for Karen Coffman fiancée of Walter Davis Jr with games and recipe tokens. Separately 75 guests attended Bert and Mrs. Andersons 50th anniversary open house at 1716 West 9th with a tiered cake and hydrangea yellow rose decor.

The Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Jayhawk Chapter No. 22 installed new officers after a brief meeting Monday. Elected officers include Commander Nona Smith and Senior Vice Commander Betty Clark with other roles filled by Pearl Wolfe Celena Todd Hildred Easum Norma Thomas. Appointed officers feature Gladys Snart Flavia Thayer Betty Todd and Kizzie Hodges. Committee chairs span hospital membership publicity and more. Installing officer Ketchum, a past commander, received a corsage.
