Judy Garland Dies in London Overdose Ruled Accidental
A coroner's inquest in London ruled Judy Garland's death an accidental self overdosage of barbiturates. The 47 year old performer had wed Mickey Deans three months earlier amid reports of happiness in London. An autopsy found 4.9 milligrams of quinal barbitone in her blood, with no signs of alcoholism or suicide. Funeral plans include viewing at Frank E Campbell and a private service with James Mason delivering the eulogy.

Funds Anticipated For Flood Control Near Lawrence
Officials from the Soil Conservation Service expect federal funds for two flood control projects near Lawrence to be available by October. J Carter Anderson of the Wakarusa Watershed District and six board members discussed calendar alignment with state officials Morrie A Bolline and Leslie E Johnson. Indications are that Agriculture Department funds will be less than last year but the board remains hopeful to begin two priority works including a 91000 dam east of Pleasant Grove Hill and a floodway along the east side of Louisiana Street through the Haskell bottom lands.
