Three cars collide near Hird's corner
A Dodge coupe driven by a summer school student named Bird was struck about 9:30 last night at Hird's corner north of Lawrence when two other cars traveling toward Kansas City in the opposite direction attempted to pass the Dodge. Radiators and the front fenders of all three cars were damaged but the occupants escaped.

Maughan Crosses Continent Again Making Better Time
Lieut Russell L Maughan flying from New York to San Francisco reached St Joseph Missouri at 2 17 pm after 1680 miles and landed in good spirits. He earlier circled the Cheyenne field and landed at 2 17 pm CST after 11 37 am CST arrival in St Joseph. He reported engine trouble fixed at Dayton and said no rain west of Dayton helped speed. He beat last year’s time by 27 minutes with three hours 11 minutes for the St Joseph leg and four hours 7 minutes Dayton leg. He crossed Missouri into Kansas at about 500 feet.
