Worlds oldest car still runs after 1875 build
Vienna museum director Josef Nagler describes Siegfried Marcus’s 1875 Marcus automobile as the world’s oldest car still operating. The four seat, one-gear vehicle needs hands to drive clutch and brakes, a five mile an hour top speed, and was often used only at night due to policing and safety rules. Nagler recounts a 15 mile three hour ride from Vienna to Klosterneuburg with one hand on the wheel and the other managing controls.
