Platform pledges sound currency in Republican draft
Cleveland June 11 The Republican platform nearing completion in subcommittee calls for a sound currency to be preserved at all hazards and allows wage and hour standards to be set by states without a constitutional amendment. It backs local relief via federal grants, old age security with state contributions, collective bargaining rights, anti child labor laws, and strong anti monopoly measures. It opposes entangling alliances and favors a tariff policy supporting American farmers and wage earners while opposing reciprocal trade treaties.
