Guy N. Walling formerly first lieutenant of Company H, First Infantry, Kansas National Guard, has received a captaincy in the new Third regiment and will command Company B in Oskaloosa. Walling helped organize the Oskaloosa company and was a noted drill master. he began military study fourteen years ago and was promoted from second lieutenant in 1909. FE C Barba graduate of the law school this spring leaves for Manila after four years in Lawrence. He came to Lawrence four years ago for a visit and was impressed with the community. He wrote for a release from the Public Works department and began law school, finishing in three and a half years with high grades. Barba recently received an appointment in the Bureau of Public Works in Manila and hopes to practice law independently there.
