Draft Plans Shrink 900k to 625k Immediate Service
Provost Marshal General Crowder disclosed to the Senate Military Affairs Committee plans to draft 900,000 to 1,500,000 of the 10,000,000 registrants for the new army. Exemptions would reduce that to 625,000 for immediate service, with at least 900,000 to be drafted and possibly 1.5 million to fill vacancies and maintain training camps. He favors immediate drafting with all draftees serving, and explains exemptions will be personal rather than class based.
