Reno Bruns of the Lawrence Co-Operative club was named to the president's advisory and executive committee of the international civic club organization. Dr. Ralph Roberts announced the appointment at the Richmond convention where the group voted to rename the organization from Co-Operative to Sertoma. Playground Circus Draws Hundreds of Children at South Park

Draft call expands as Kansas to send more men for exams
Eight more Douglas county men with 1-A draft classifications will report to Kansas City on August 14 for pre-induction physicals. The local draft office will also send five Leavenworth and six Jefferson county men to Kansas City for exams on August 4 and 14 respectively, with buses transporting all participants. The national call rises to 100000 draftees for September and October, doubling the prior figure, and Kansas quotas increase to 600 for September and October.
