State board backs SAACM funding boost for schools
The State Board of Education on Tuesday recommended a 440 million dollar increase in base state aid to school districts. Supporters say the rise is needed to maintain good schools and offset recession-era cuts while critics call it unrealistic. The proposal passed 7 to 2 with two Republicans opposing and heads to Gov. Brownback and the Legislature for action.
