Court upholds SLT route for Baker Wetlands bypass
A three judge panel of the 10th Circuit ruled decisively for the South Lawrence Trafficway path through the Baker Wetlands clearing the way for completion. KDOT and FHWA call this a legal end to challenges though opponents may seek Supreme Court review. The bypass will span from Kansas Highway 10 east of Lawrence to Interstate 70 west, linking the eastern and western segments.

Ruling upholds South Lawrence Trafficway plan
A 10th U.S. Circuit Court panel ruled the noise study in the South Lawrence Trafficway case was harmless and upheld the plan. KDOT welcomed the decision as it aims to start construction in fall 2013 on the six mile four lane leg linking east and west Kansas Highway 10 segments near Lawrence. Opponents argued the 32B alignment and alternatives around the Baker Wetlands harmed historic sites and failed to protect cultural values.
