Lawrences fireworks enforcement scarce amid many calls
Lawrence police logged 188 fireworks related calls from Friday midnight to Wednesday afternoon but issued only three citations for violating the city ban. Two tickets came from a single incident on Michigan Street where a grass fire was put out with a garden hose. Lawrence transient charged with aggravated sexual battery
Lawrence man Eric T. Santos 27 faces one felony count of aggravated sexual battery after allegedly assaulting a 51 year old victim who was unconscious. Police were called about 12 10 am Friday to an address in Lawrence for a sex crime that had just occurred. Santos appeared in court Monday bond set at 15000 and remained in jail Wednesday.
