U.S. says Iran-linked EFP use in Iraq normalizing
Rear Adm. Gregory Smith stated at a Baghdad news conference that the deadly Explosively Formed Penetrators had returned to normal levels after a brief January spike. He cited ongoing Iranian training and funding of Iraqi Shiite groups but could not confirm Iranian responsibility for weapons deliveries. He noted foreign fighters comprise many insurgents, with 40–50 per month entering and half of them often suicide bombers.
