World markets extend decline amid recession fears

Global stock markets fall for a second day with futures down in the United States and major indices slipping in Asia. A separate case reports a 94-year-old man found dead after a violent incident with three suspects arrested.

Bombs Detonated at Odyssey Middle School Site

Eleven explosions rocked the Odyssey Middle School area while Army Corps of Engineers detonated 53 fragmentation bombs, 10 rocket warheads, two rifle grenades and miscellaneous charges over the King holiday weekend. The site, built on a former bombing range, is not yet all clear and spring soil tests for toxins are planned.

Democratic rivals clash in personal South Carolina debate

In a sharp back and forth five days before the South Carolina primary Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama accused each other of distortions as they sparred over Iraq, Bill Clinton's role, and present votes. John Edwards pressed for equal time while stressing focus on national issues and voter disenfranchisement claims. The CBC Institute CNN debate highlighted tensions as Obama sought to frame Clinton’s record and ethics in a historically charged race.
