Firebomb Probe Continues At Kansas University Campus
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation continues examining evidence from Thursday night firebombs found at the KU campus Military Science Building. Three devices, two inside and one outside, caused minor damage and one exploded in an office area. Deputy state fire marshal Lloyd Davies said KBI lab reports are not yet complete and warned officials may withhold details post investigation.

Lawrence Youth's Hog Grand Champ
A Hampshire hog entered by John Musick Rt. 5 was named grand champion carcass at the Wichita Barrow Show held last week. The hog posted a hamloin index of 169.6 the highest on record at Wichita. Musick had three barrows in the event plus an eighth place with index 135. The show drew 114 entries. Musick previously won grand champion in 1967 with an index of 147. The champion barrow weighed 230 pounds.

Two KU students injured in morning crash near Baldwin Junction
Larry H. Wilks 22 of Overland Park and James D. Standen 22 of Shawnee Mission, both KU students, were admitted to Watkins Memorial Hospital after a 7:15 am crash on US 56 four miles west of Baldwin Junction. Wilks lost control on ice while passing a pickup. the car burned, damages $3500. Standen suffered facial and hand burns. neither was seriously hurt.

The Deep Rock Service Station at 920 N 2nd St reported a theft of a bank bag containing $244, with $163 cash, $43 in change and $38 in checks, stolen from an unlocked desk drawer between 7:30 a.m. and 3:27 p.m. Sunday. Police were notified by owner Jim Calvert. other weekend incidents included two disturbances and four other thefts.

False bomb threats target KU halls prompt cautious checks
KU officials reported threats to Malott Hall and Oliver Hall in Lawrence were false. Malott Hall threats came by phone around 9 a.m. with no evacuation or disruption, while Oliver Hall threat arrived at 1 13 a.m. and prompted searches before no device found. Kansas University traffic and security officers released two theft reports. Dennis Casey, director at Templin Hall, reported $138 missing from a locked drawer in Room 222, theft likely between 3 and 6 a.m. Friday.
