Cannon, jailed for burglary in San Diego, lived with Ernest W. Young at 1215 West Fourth Street two years earlier. On New Year’s Day 1926 he decamped with a Dodie touring car, clothing, boots, and Christmas presents, taking property of the Young family valued at about $500. He claimed to be 21, previously attended the University of Kansas, and said he resided in Topeka. The car was later recovered in Topeka. Cannon received a sentence of one to fifteen years for burglary.
