Thousands mourn slain Seville politician and wife
Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar joined thousands in Seville for the funerals of councilman Alberto Jimenez Becerril and his wife Ascension Garcia Ortiz, slain amid Basque separatist violence blamed on ETA. Police found empty 9mm cartridges near the bodies as crowds watched a somber procession. Archbishop Amigo Vallejo urged unity and peace amid fears of political assassinations by ETA across Spain.
