In the Mojave Desert near Hesperia California a Santa Fe passenger train derailed after a loose rail was tampered with the track. Officials found removed spikes and one unbolted rail. three injuries reported though fatalities were prevented by the engineer’s quick stop. Only two passengers were seriously hurt Mrs FJ Mackie of Los Angeles and W H Burbage of Winslow AZ.
