A fire at the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity house at 1145 Louisiana Street started when an electric blanket shorted on a second floor mattress. Fire Captain Sanders said only one room was damaged, with about 1000 dollars for beds and bedding and another 1000 for the room, no water damage, and minor smoke. Two pumpers and a snorkel truck responded from Fire Station No 1. Later at 1644 West 20th Street an ash tray fire caused no damage.

Five Alpha Tau Omega members report valuables stolen from a parked car in the 1600 block of Vermont Street. James Morley Kansas University sophomore from Evansville Ill had his wallet with $20 and a watch worth 80 dollars taken. Other students, Douglas Burtt Edward Pugh Byron Curfman and Chris Tatlock, also reported missing wallets or watches.
