B52s Return In Raids on DMZ and Cambodian Border
Allied air raids resumed as B52 bombers struck troop concentrations and artillery sites in the DMZ and along the Cambodian border. Marines conducted a northern sector assault and helicopters landed 1,000 troops. Four Marines were killed and nine wounded. U.S. pilots flew 90 missions.

Thefts Reported From Barber Shop and Residence
Two thefts were reported to police on Thursday. Robert L. Vena of 140142 Mass. St. said a globe was stolen from Tom's Barber Shop near 14th and Mass. Sts. The globe valued at 15 dollars was the shop’s second theft in a month. William Helms of 1237 Dread Ave. reported a camera, case and film worth 150 dollars stolen sometime last Saturday from 132 Tenn. St. police said.

Universal Newsreel to Close After Final Showings
Universal Newsreel, the last remaining news film supplier to theaters, will close Tuesday with two six minute reels shown in 1,600 theaters. The final reel depicts a bulldozer at the Olympic Village site in Mexico City while Ed Herlihy delivers the closing narration. Thomas Mead, Universal general manager, will retire after 34 years with the firm.

Police report a Kansas University junior, David King, left a dictionary on the accelerator while warming his car behind an apartment building at 1125 Ind. KU Student Sentenced For Pep Pills Charge
Steve Hollis a 19 year old University of Kansas student pleaded guilty to writing a fraudulent prescription for pep pills before Justice of the Peace Net Atchison in Columbia Kansas. He was fined 250 dollars and sentenced to 90 days in county jail. Two other charges were dropped. He used a Fredonia physician's name on the prescription presented to a Baxter Springs drug store on September 8.
