President Eisenhower arrived in Washington at 9 33 a.m. after a week in Paris where 15 NATO allies drafted a plan to cope with the Communists in missiles era. His plane faced three hour delay due to headwinds with refueling stops at Keflavik Iceland and Harmon Air Force Base Newfoundland. A 50 member delegation greeted him in drizzle, led by Vice President Nixon. members included Christian Herter Harold Stassen and George Allen.

Haskell Institute Christmas light contest winners announced
At Haskell Institute a Christmas decorating contest sponsored by the Vocational Trade and Industrial Council drew praise for the most attractive scenes yet. First prize went to the auto mechanics shop led by Delbert Paasch for the angel and shepherd display before the auditorium. Second prize to welders directed by Bill Glass. A tie for third went to painters under Elmer Polson and electricians under Ric Fawbush. Local mailing list pickup urged. Post Office reports lighter rush and advice to mail by Saturday for Christmas delivery.

New England Group Holds 61st Reunion in KU Memorial
Lawrence's Sons and Daughters of New England held their 61st annual reunion in the KU Memorial Union Kansas Room with about 90 attendees. Harry C. Downs was elected president as Edyth Beach became vice president and Mrs. E F Huddleston secretary. The group created a research committee headed by Prof. Allen Crafton to locate and preserve old society records, and raised the annual dues to 50 cents. Dr. George L. Anderson delivered an address on contemporary Puritan influence.
