Land donation could fund millions in KU and K-State scholarships
Jefferson County man James F. Lindley left about 1,352 acres in Shawnee and Jefferson counties to KU and K-State. Profits will be split to fund engineering scholarships at KU and agriculture scholarships at K-State, with a total land value near 4.3 million dollars. Lindley, a 1949 KU electrical engineering graduate and WWII veteran, previously supported KU engineering studies with annual gifts. The Kansas Board of Regents approved transferring the land to KU Endowment and the KSU Charitable Real Estate Foundation.
