Bastogne Remembrance of the 1944 Siege and Rescue

In December 1944 Bastogne faced a brutal siege with 72 000 US troops, encirclement, shelling, and scarce supplies. The 101st Airborne held firm as air drops finally brought aid on December 22, followed by Patton’s arrival on December 28, ending the siege with significant destruction and 13 civilian deaths.

In Kansas City three youths aided Ernest Anthony after a two car crash at Linwood and Prospect. While assisting him, three Negro youths joined and one took his billfold containing $1 before all fled.
