Attorney seeks psychological exam for man who shot teen
The attorney for 85 year old Andrew Lester asked for a psychological evaluation, saying his client may no longer understand the case against him. Lester pleads not guilty to first degree assault and armed criminal action in the April 13 2023 shooting of Ralph Yarl, then 16. Yarl survived and recently graduated high school. His family also filed a civil suit. The trial is set to begin October 7.

Former state official found dead after misconduct allegations

Just Foods production paused after downtown fire
Just Foods announced its Chop Shop operation at 800 block of Vermont Street in Lawrence will be temporarily suspended following an oven fire before 12:15 p.m. Tuesday. Executive Director Aundrea Walker said the team and volunteers are safe, but service to the community will be impacted in the coming days.
