Lawrence city commissioners will vote on a revised 2025 budget featuring a mill rate of 33.197, nearly unchanged from 33.207 last year, funded by dipping into the general fund balance. The plan contrasts with July’s proposal to raise to 36.807 mills, which would have added about 120 annually for a 300,000 home, following Aug 20 public input against higher taxes.

The project features 224 indoor climate controlled units and will add nearly 70 000 square feet of buildings. Also noted plans for a 30 unit apartment building in the Lawrence Memorial Hospital area.
