South Vietnamese troops say they killed 166 Viet Cong and captured 25 in the Mekong Delta offensive ending a key phase of Operation Big Pacification. The clash near Bac Lieu left 54 guerrillas dead on the ground and 80 killed by air strikes, with 6 Vietnamese soldiers killed and 14 wounded.

Savannah Begins Pay Trips Aug 29 on Atomic Merchant Ship
The Savannah, first atomic powered merchant vessel, will start paid voyages on Tuesday Aug 29 carrying 82 passengers from Savannah Georgia to Norfolk Virginia at a minimum fare of 125 dollars per person. Officials say about 400 applications exist for 32 berths on the maiden commercial voyage, which will also carry cargo and mark the atomic age of merchant shipping.
