Man gets probation for meth conviction after plea deal
Joseph Leonard Klebenstein, 32, from Topeka, pleaded guilty to one felony methamphetamine charge in a deal with the Douglas County District Attorney. The judge suspended 34 months in prison to 18 months probation under Senate Bill 123. Charges of aggravated battery and paraphernalia were dropped. The incident reportedly occurred May 1 near 413 E. Seventh St. at an Amtrak tent.

Five hurt in three-vehicle crash east of Eudora on Highway 10
An early Sunday crash on Highway 10 near mile marker 20 involved a Chrysler 300, Lexus IS and Honda Accord. Five people were injured, two passengers critically transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Johnson County Sheriff's Office and Eudora Police assisted as westbound lanes were closed briefly.

Lawrence school board mulls near flat 2025 property tax rate

Man Arrested After Slamming Door On Officer at Locust Street
Police say James Austin Fuller, 35, attacked an officer who attempted to question him in the 700 block of Locust Street around 3 am Saturday. Fuller allegedly slammed a door on the officer’s leg and knee while fleeing into a home, injuring the officer but not causing serious harm. Fuller was taken into custody on suspicion of battery on a law enforcement officer and interference.
