Lawrence City Budget Hearing Draws Strong Public Feedback
Dozens of residents spoke out against rising taxes as Lawrence city commissioners signaled support for a higher tax levy. They considered a smaller hike than proposed, with a plan to exceed the revenue-neutral rate. The budget would lift the mill levy from 33.207 to 36.807, costing about 120 dollars more annually on a 300 thousand dollar home, pending a final vote in September.
