Dozens of residents from the Brandon Woods independent living facility were evacuated as a fire affected part of the complex in Lawrence. 85 residents were transported to Bella Sera Condominiums and connected with Red Cross and Douglas County Emergency Management for housing options. Crews remained onsite overnight. mutual aid came from nearby fire departments and emergency services.
