The 25th annual 4 H and Vocational Agriculture Fair opens Wednesday at the Douglas County 4 H Fair grounds on East Nineteenth Street. Work Day starts Tuesday as committees prepare buildings and booths. Entries for home economies exhibits crops livestock and special events begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday with booths in place by 5 p.m. The Wednesday schedule features live stock judging, crops and gardens judging and the fitting and showing contest. The livestock parade and finals are at 7 p.m. Wednesday in front of the grand stand. The style revue judging was held last week with the revue at 8 p.m. Friday and winners announced then. Even if weather disrupts plans alternate locations exist for grandstand events. If rain, the talent show Thursday moves to India School and the Style Revue Saturday to the High School Auditorium.

Pearson Dies. Kansas U Benefactor Noted Oilman
Joseph R. Pearson, longtime Kansas University benefactor and East Texas oil developer, died early today at Methodist Hospital in Rochester Minnesota after a period of critical illness. He funded four major dormitories including Pearson Hall and Sellards Pearson Halls. total gifts over the past decade exceed a half million dollars. Survived by his wife Gertrude Sellards Pearson, two brothers, two sisters, and a large family, he was born in Wakefield July 4 1880 and spent much of his career building oil ventures in Kansas and Texas. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Methodist Church with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.
