Pomona Reservoir funds approved by House panel
The House Appropriations Committee approved 2.2 million dollars for the Pomona Reservoir project 40 miles southwest of here and 78 thousand dollars for Kaw River flood control in North Lawrence. The Pomona Dam, put into service last month, should reach full height by December and the lake is about 65 percent complete with 4000 acres surface area and over 50 miles of shore line. The Corps project includes roads ramps beaches and picnic areas. The Kaw project adds flood protection with a three mile improved levee system for North Lawrence and surrounding areas.
