Ex Track Star Harold Fisher Still Drives Lawrence City Clerk Work
Harold Fisher, once a top Kansas high school sprinter, remains a rapid mover as Lawrence city clerk. He serves as ex officio finance director, recording secretary for City Commission and Planning Commission, keeper of records, and election night coordinator. Born January 29, 1898, in South Douglas County, he moved to Lawrence in 1933, has a long career in education, and after 1945 became city clerk following William Stone’s draft. He recalls Manhattan trials, a bond-signing trip to New York, and his son Alan's recent baseball recognition.
