Decertified Kansas officers may work in jails under unclear policy

In Kansas, a 2018 case saw Lawrence officer Sutagee Anglin lose certification after an incident with his wife. By 2020 he worked as Shawnee County Jail corrections staff earning over $60,000, highlighting that decertified police can still be hired in corrections because licensure does not cover jail workers. Advocates warn this permits problematic individuals to remain in the system while Shawnee County officials say all applicants undergo the same process.
