Boy brings gun to science camp triggers evacuation
A 10 year old boy brought a firearm to a Johnson County science camp and accidentally discharged it, evacuating a room at New Century Fieldhouse where nine or ten children were present. The shot went into the floor from the backpack. no injuries were reported and parents were called to pick up their children. Police will decide next steps with the District Attorney and have not released the owner’s details.

Maier Faces New Conviction After Pro Se Trial
In a June 1, 2016 confrontation at 2444 Jasu Drive Maier drew a gun on a woman during an argument, struck her with the gun’s grip causing profuse bleeding, and was later arrested. Judge Pokorny ruled Maier knowingly and voluntarily waived presence for trial and appointed standby counsel Gerald Wells. Sentencing set for August 31 with potential 25 to 31 months.

Bradford praised for deeds to emulate at funeral
