Langston's nightclub in Lawrence faces uncertain future
Langston's named after poet Langston Hughes closed by owner Donnie M Thompson Jr in February 1997. The venue reopened last year as Bleachers Sports Bar at 806 W 24th under new name and music to lure a different crowd after a security shooting and a parking lot murder conviction nearby. Police logged about 115 complaints during Langston's operation from early 1996 to the closure.
