Barges Break Loose Closes 10 Mile Mississippi Reach
A 10 mile section of the Mississippi River near St Louis was closed to boat traffic after 13 barges broke loose and went missing. Coast Guard Lt David Baugh said 130 barges had broken moorings late Friday and one barge sank with grain. The 13 unaccounted for may lie beneath surface or be among other barges.
