Fire at Galveston hotel kills and traps dozens
A five story Central Hotel in downtown Galveston burned after 1 30 a m trapping 10 to 12 people feared dead and 28 unaccounted for. At least 14 hospitalized as flames melted parking meters and blocked the only escape route. Firefighters from six cities assisted as a 13 year old boy and a 40 year old man were among the first bodies recovered.

County to move courthouse offices to temporary quarters
