Ramon G. Torres aged 23 from Guadalajara Mexico is held in the city jail as an illegal alien after being found Friday night at Second and Locust. Police say he entered the United States three days earlier at El Paso Texas, rode a train toward Chicago for work, but jumped off near Lawrence and is held for immigration authorities.
Mission South athlete Vince Parette tripled jumped 47 feet 3 3/4 inches for a meet record. Lawrence High took third and fourth with Scott Janeway 44 feet 4 inches and Howie Walker 44 feet. Tim Davis of Mission West won the two mile in 9 minutes 12.5 seconds. Ken West of Mission Northwest took the mile steeplechase in 4 minutes 55.5 seconds. Wichita South won the two mile relay in 7 minutes 59.8 seconds.
Thousands of visitors toured Concord and Lexington as reenactments recalled the April 19 1775 clash that sparked the American Revolution. Tens of thousands watched Red Coat and Minuteman groups reenact skirmishes at Lexington and joined celebrations around Old North Church and North Bridge in Concord. President Ford planned wreaths for fallen soldiers, while protesters urged limits on corporate power amid the People's Bicentennial Commission events.

Lawrence officials said tests by the city chemist three months ago found no cancer creating compounds in Lawrence water, despite EPA tests in 80 cities including Topeka after New Orleans discoveries. EPA chief Train urged calm but warned there is reason for concern.
Seven primary and fourteen general election expense reports remain due to the Douglas County clerk. Primary statements were due April 3 and general election reports are due May 1. Notable figures include John Taylor who filed for Lawrence city commission with $29 expenses and $25 contributions.
Thunderstorms swept the eastern third of the nation with tornadoes and heavy rains. In Jackson Tennessee a Friday night tornado killed one and injured 60, while dozens of other tornadoes touched down across Arkansas Illinois Missouri and Tennessee. Flooding and high winds disrupted Chicago Detroit and southern Michigan with roads flooded and two O'Hare hotels surrounded by several feet of water.
Mrs Hugh Auchincloss said there was never any question of divorce in Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Aristotle Onassis marriage despite difficult moments. She called the divorce dispute sickening and noted marriages have spats from differing backgrounds and cultures.
