KU engineers rush to finish 13 student exhibits seven industrial displays and nine special exhibits for the Engineering Exposition at Learned Hall Kansas University. Displays feature antique engines from 1917 to 1945 plus jet and wind tunnel demos tied to NASA probes and airflow studies.
A conference committee indicated there will be no major changes or budget cuts to the higher education appropriation bill. The panel discussed the overall $294.8 million allocation, KU requests totaling about $37.1 million in general funds, and a separate $282,790 utility project for the Spencer Art Museum site. Richard T. Mitchell 42 pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting Ray Evans in making illegal political contributions via falsified invoices tied to Traders National Bank and Baytown Bank. Mitchell named co conspirator but not defendant. proceeds involve multiple Democratic candidates and 1973-73 expenditures. Mitchell to testify as government's key witness at trial.
