United States marshals served warrants against eight alleged leaders of the Chicago yardmen and related unions for violating the Lever Act amid a broader strike crackdown. Those named include Joseph Scott A W Casseday W Larh ell Fred L Schultz Michael Elgass and others with arraignments expected today before Commissioner Mason. Additional warrants target John Tirwain and Elmer Tidwell as the strike unfolds.

Stubenville Ohio April 15 Harry Miller 26 of Akron was held in Jefferson county jail after publicly confessing during revival services at a Beach Bottom West Virginia church near here to the murder of 11 year old Frances South. Miller prayed aloud asking mercy and said he found relief in prayer.
Report cites 15 Sinn Feiners freed after a hunger strike at Mount Joy prison. The Telsh Times notes that Nationalist Ireland had become so stirred by prisoner suffering that even one prison death could trigger outbursts of crime and lawlessness.
Five persons appeared in police court this morning for traffic violations. Tom Pringle Jerry Steugart J Watts and Howard Watts each paid 10.50 for speeding while Jack Kelsey paid 6.50 for driving with undisplayed plate. Fre Burnett paid 5.50 in costs on speeding charge.

Census bureau reviews population figures for 449 cities and towns with comparative data. From 1910 to 2020 the rate of increase fell 11 percent, down from 23.4 percent in the prior decade, while 21 new incorporated communities are noted with no prior 1900 figures. Aggregate population stands at 10,058,215, up 1,780,271.

Washington, April 15. Plans to introduce a resolution in the house to impeach Assistant Secretary Post of the labor department over his attitude toward reports of radicals were interrupted. Representative Hoch prepared the measure, but Hoch withheld it and Mondell announced leaders would study it further. Truch said he would introduce it later.

Junior Senior entrants are Raymond Hail Marquis Huffman Stanley Learned and Albert Keefe with alternates Mildred Gordon Hazel Griffits Jessie Whaley and Lela Pyle. The boys quartet will be ranked in the program.
Douglas county is represented at the National Midland Trail Association meeting now in progress in Kansas City. T. O. Perkins of Lawrence is president and Charles Eberhardt from Lovampton is an official delegate. Propositions before the convention include route changes name changes and management changes. The Midland trail is described as the shortest motor route between Kansas City and Denver.
Lawrence Rotary members staged a preview of the Joplin conference by performing stunts to publicize the Sevenmonth district event. Thirty three members have signed up for the Kansas City trip, with departure scheduled Sunday afternoon.
Douglas county commissioners decide to open bids for a 300000 highway bond issue at 11 am on June 1. The bonds dated July 1 carry semi annual interest and the county now has 66000 in indebtedness. President Cabrera fled Havana amid a revolution in Guatemala. is believed to have left for Cuba.
Berlin reports the Polish government informed the allied supreme council of plans to occupy German territory if Germany fails to honor its commitments. The Vossische Zeitung says the move is regarded as serious and precautions have been taken.

James Dixon age 63 died at his home 803 Pennsylvania Street. The funeral will be held tomorrow at 2 30 PM from Cross Chapel conducted by Rev. Mr. Smith of St Luke A M E Church. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
University sociologists will lead a city wide survey to address a student housing shortage for next year. About 500 students may come to the university and many will need rooms. volunteers and precinct committees will canvass and house students, with students from the sociology department aiding the effort.
