Strawberries Lead List of Pesticide Rich Fruits
The Environmental Working Group picks strawberries as the fruit with the most pesticide residues for the third straight year. About a third of strawberry samples carried at least 10 pesticides and one sample showed 22 residues. Spinach, nectarines, apples and grapes followed. The report is based on nearly 39,000 USDA tests across 47 fruits and vegetables, noting 70 percent of conventional produce carries pesticides and 98 percent of several fruits contained at least one pesticide.
