Wheel Chair Theft Fails At Lawrence Memorial Hospital
Two unidentified men tried to steal a hospital wheel chair at Lawrence Memorial Hospital on the third floor around 11 p.m. Tuesday. They fled in a green or gray Volkswagen after an engineer spotted them, dropping the chair. Police report also notes four thefts and several disturbances across Lawrence including vending machine break ins and petty property thefts.

Two Persons Hospitalized In City Traffic Accidents
Lawrence police investigated Tuesday afternoon and this morning that involved eleven vehicles in four major accidents. Among the injured were Clifford Nieder 46 and Stephen Parsons 37 admitted to LMH for head injuries and leg injuries respectively.

Morton council considers zoning changes and park funding
The Morton council moved two zoning ordinances to second reading. One would rezone land at 24th and Ousdahl from heavy density RM-3 to C-1 for off street parking. Woman Killed On Turnpike West of Lawrence
Gladys Hurlbert, 65, of Enid Oklahoma, died after her westbound Renault overturned on the Kansas Turnpike about 11:50 a.m. Tuesday near milepost 4.7 12 miles west of the West Lawrence interchange. The car rested on its wheels and the dog survived. Autopsy pending. body moved from Rumsey Funeral Home to Enid. This marked the seventh 1969 county death, two more than last year, with other local crashes noted.
