Death of S. T. Field in Lawrence community
Samuel Trumbull Field, born 1860 in Rock Island Illinois and longtime Philadelphia resident, died July 27 in Lawrence after a prolonged illness. He had returned to his home in Lawrence with his wife and daughter Merjorie, fought a brave battle amid kidney and dropsy, and expired in his wife’s arms. He was a director of Douglas County Bank and Kaneas Building and Loan Association, a respected businessman, and a genial citizen. Funeral was held Monday at J. Gibb’s home, conducted by Rev. Dr. Ayern and Rev. Dr. Howland. He is survived by his wife, daughter, and his aged mother Mrs. Lucy Field.
