Parvin to retire after long Nevada highway service
Las Vegas district engineer Jack Parvin will retire officially July 6 after a career with the Nevada Highway Department dating to 1933. A send off banquet honored him last week with remarks from State Sen. Floyd Lamb and City Manager Bill Adams. Parvin, born 1912 in Palo Alto, rose from laborer to district engineer in Las Vegas, and will become a consulting engineer in the city. Keith Layton will replace him as state highway engineer in Las Vegas.
