He served as DA 1959–60 and ran again in 1966 but lost to George Franklin.

Gov. Paul Laxalt appoints Sara Hughes a 25 year Las Vegas resident and 15 year Local 226 business agent to Nevada Equal Rights Commission. The use of her NAACP ties and Las Vegas residence are noted along with other members William Laub Jerry Farr Helen Whitacre Paul Garwood.
State Senator George Kuhn urged union leaders to put mediator recommendations to a member vote on approval or rejection. He warned the Senate committee may push legislation to end the newspaper blackout if no vote is held.
