Mollie Wins Ayrshire Grand Championship at Show

Mollie captured the Ayrshire grand championship while Fred Edwards, Solanco Chapter FFA exhibitor, showed the Brown Swiss grand champion. Ellen Schmuck of Peach Bottom RD2 took Jersey grand champion for an intermediate calf. The three year old Guernsey grand champion was owned by Robert Wagner. Donna Akers Quarryville RD1 earned all around fitting and showing champion with Debbie Crider Nottingham RD1 as champion fitter. Judge Howard Wise of Lebanon County oversaw 92 cows entered.

Beekeepers Eligible for retroactive indemnity payments

The USDA announces an indemnity payment program for beekeepers whose bees are killed by pesticides near colonies. Timetable retroactive to January 1 1967 and authorized through 1973. Applications via ASC S offices with eligibility based on documented pesticide losses and precautions.
