Dew Could Be Important Water Source For Crops
USDA studies in Ohio indicate dew may supply significant moisture for field crops. Tests show dew can add up to 0.08 inch in a day and over time provide a monthly water supply of an inch or more, with leaves absorbing dew directly and some water reaching soil.

Sloat to Receive Distinguished Service Award in Agriculture
Harry S. Sloat associate Lancaster County Farm Agent will receive the Distinguished Service Award for Agriculture at the National Association of County Agricultural Agents meeting in Boston October 13 to 17. D. F. Bredthauer announced from Refugio Texas. Sloat has led farm management studies since 1949 the longest on record in the United States. He supervised accounts for 70 to 110 farmers yearly and helped establish the Lancaster County Poultry Association Producers Cooperative Exchange Lancaster Poultry Center.
