State farmers expect the best corn crop since 1961 with an estimated 63.9 million bushels based on October 1 conditions from the Pennsylvania Crop Reporting Service. After a severe drought, forecasts rose from 47.8 million bushels two months earlier. last year yielded 47.5 million. Hay crop is about 33 million tons, slightly below last year and near five year average. yield per acre is estimated at 1.55 tons.
