Committee On Agriculture Is Named By Gov
Harrisburg 16member Committee on Agriculture named by Governor William W Scranton will meet for the first time Monday October 25. Created from the Governor's Conference on Agriculture in Hamburg last April the panel will work with Agriculture Secretary Leland H Bull to assess growth potential and action plans. Secretary Bull will chair the 11 a.m. session in room 103 Agriculture Building. Governor Scranton will address the panel.

TGE Vaccine Approved for One Year Use
A one year license to produce a vaccine against transmissible gastroenteritis in piglets has been issued to Diamond Laboratories, Des Moines, by USDA. The vaccine, about 60 percent effective, uses killed virus and requires two doses 30 days apart. Renewal depends on field results and further testing.

Entries For Pa Livestock Expo Near Record
State Agriculture Secretary Leland H. Bull announced 3,286 entries received for the ninth Pennsylvania Livestock Exposition to be held November 8 to 13 in the State Farm Show Building. Beef cattle total 611 head, sheep 1,222, swine 1,239, and horses 214, with breeding stock comprising 308 head.

Manheim Hog Champ Sold At 39 Cents Per Pound
The champion hog from Manheim Farm Show sold for 95.16 dollars after weighing 244 pounds. Glenn Sauder of Manheim R3 owned the Yorkshire barrow, which Kunzler & Co Inc of Lancaster bought at the sale. Sauder’s reserve champion and his pen of 10 were also sold.

Grazing On Diverted Acres Okayed In Lancaster County
Lancaster County ASCS chair Fred Seldemridge said 762 farmers in the 1965 feed grain and wheat certificate program may graze diverted acreage without losing benefits. Grazing starts October 1 but hay on diverted acres may not be harvested. CRP land may not be grazed or harvested all year. No Fall signup for 1966.
