Lancaster County ag agent Max Smith warns farmers that frosted sudan grass and sorghum hybrids can form prussic acid, poisoning livestock. Do not graze or green chop for a week after frost until plants are dead and brown, then safe to use. Silage can be made after 30 day fermentation. any new growth after warm weather also requires the same precautions.
